Sony Says It Sold 160 Million PlayStation 2 Units in Milestone Disclosure (playstation.com) 12
Sony has confirmed the PlayStation 2 has sold over 160 million units worldwide since its 2000 launch, marking the first official acknowledgment of its record-breaking lifetime sales. The figure, revealed on Sony's 30th anniversary PlayStation website, cements PS2's position as the best-selling gaming console ever, ahead of Nintendo DS at 154.02 million units and Nintendo Switch at 146 million units.

If DS sales are going up, it sounds like Nintendo may be doing similar?
When was the DS generation last manufactured?
I feel like it's been a long time since even the 3DS generation had anything made.

No one cares Sony. It wasn't relevant during the "console wars". It's even less relevant now.
PS2 being a DVD player helped it sell. (Score:3)
I ended up with one in trade back in 2005. I was actually impressed and wished I had bought one when they first came out. Granted, I never played the most famous titles on the system. But a PS2 and a Netflix DVD subscription was a killer combo for my then-wife and I. Plus, "Kya: Dark Lineage" was an underrated game I wish had been more popular than it was. I'm still a Kya fan today because I loved the fact she wasn't the usual "damsel in distress" female character. She could kick enemies square in the nuts. Nintendo of the same era wouldn't allow that and that's why they lost, even with the Gamecube being pretty cool on the technology front... but still snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by not being DVD-capable.
When Nintendo allowed me to register as a third-party Wii U developer, I knew something had to have gotten twisted. Nintendo got desperate enough to search the futon for loose change when the Wii U tanked. I did buy a CAT-DEV devkit, but not from Nintendo. Studios were cutting their losses and bailing, selling their devkits for less than half the asking price. How could I refuse, especially when the firm I bought the CAT-DEV from threw in the grinch faced test console for $100 more?
Nintendo has a massive ego problem. I never bought a Switch. And won't. I understand why Sony pitched them the ultimate "Fuck you" with the PlayStation after Nintendo took up with Philips and that godawful ill-fated CD-i collab happened. Those Legend of Zelda ripoffs... sheesh. Not enough sake/vodka/JD on the planet to wipe those memories.
I'll stick with emulating my SNES on my $60 tablet. EarthBound is still an amazing game and I will never give up my CIB hard copy.

A "strong female character" that's just a male character with a gender swap isn't an improvement. It completely denies the female experience and sends the message that values we associate with masculinity are what make a woman strong. The all-too common "sexy ninja" variation also reinforces the idea that a woman's value is primarily in her appearance.
A woman can be strong and not be physically strong. A woman can be strong and not be violent or capable of violence. Why is this so difficult for people to

Because you keep changing the definitions of what you want Men to acknowledge about Women, and demand that Men completely abandon Women who aren't in lock step with whatever counts as a "woman" to you today.
Strong women = bad. Sexy Women = bad. OK, so a weak (physically) fucking ugly woman is what *MUST* be praised then? Sounds a lot like an inferiority complex against your peers if you ask me. Guess what buttercup, Men value different things than Women. That's not to say there isn't overlap, there certa

Have to say that I was impressed when Sony felt confident enough to install rootkits on their customer's computers. They've always been an interesting show, remember when they sued the largest manufacturer of CD burners for enabling music pirating? We were all treated to the absurdity of Sony Music suing Sony Electronics, and then a few years later they did it again with VCR recorders, Sony Studios suing Sony Electronics.
